Quality Improvement Specialist

A quality improvement specialist works to maintain working levels of quality assurance (QA) and improve QA in specific areas of a healthcare facility. This means quality improvement specialists serve an important role regulating company-wide compliance and evaluating the performance of current facility programs. If a quality improvement specialist uncovers inconsistencies or flaws in a process or program, they are responsible for reporting their findings and assisting with the creation of a corrective plan of action. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Review quality programs regularly
  • Use quality improvement tools 
  • Organize QA documents and records 
  • Measure and analyze performance metrics 
  • Partner cross-functionally to improve QA in all departments 
  • Maintain state and federal record compliance 
  • Collect data and compile QA reports 
  • Assist with the development of new quality programs 

Qualifications and Skills 

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field 
  • 2+ years of experience in a quality improvement role   
  • Proficiency with word processing software
