Office Manager

Are you looking for a challenging, dynamic career that allows flexibility for your family, church and civic responsibilities? Do you have good communication and interpersonal skills? Then a career as a healthcare office manager might just be right for you.

A healthcare office manager handles all of the day-to-day administrative tasks to keep a healthcare practice or clinic operating, so that the doctors and nurses can spend as much time with their patients as possible. A few of an office manager’s tasks include ordering supplies; hiring, supervising and scheduling staff; budgeting; creating and putting marketing campaigns into action, and being the front line person in most patient communications.

  • Education — The minimum education required for a healthcare office manager position is an associate degree, although those with a bachelor’s degree will generally command a higher salary. Also desirable is a certification from the Professional Association of Health Care Office Management (PAHCOM).
  • Skills — Relevant skills for a healthcare office manager include familiarity with the healthcare industry, excellent communications skills, a self-motivating work ethic and the ability to work on multiple projects well at the same time.
