Job Duties

  • Using microscopic techniques and procedures to analyze blood cells
  • Manage laboratory supplies and inventory in the form of assessing stock to figure out the inventory levels.
  • Ordering new supplies when needed and verifying receipts
  • Keep patients confident and ensuring the hospital’s information is kept confidential.
  • Assist patients with understanding the medical technology used by answering their questions and requests
  • Analyzing blood, urine, gastric juices, and spinal fluids chemically to determine normal and abnormal components to the body fluid
  • Quantifying data and consolidating it into easily comprehensible reports of technological findings
  • Follow infection control and hazardous waste policies and protocols
  • Ensuring the appropriate operation of laboratory equipment such as spectrophotometers, colorimeters, flame photometers, and more by calibrating when needed
  • Prepare blood plasma and platelets for transfusions by way of conducting blood group, type, and compatibility tests.

Requirements

    • Associates degree or certificate in clinical laboratory science

    • State Certification
