Second Family Goes to Work

A lot of our employees refer to their colleagues at HealthCare Support as their second family. This is simply because we are there for each other. When one of our team members experiences heartache or triumph, the rest of our team feels it too.

This week our Internal Development Team had the joy of facilitating a fundraising event that would benefit the mother of two of our employees. Donna and Erick Alim’s mother is a stage 2 cancer survivor for 5 years, however the family just received some heart breaking news that tumors had reappeared.

Along with the emotional strain this will place on the family, we are aware of the financial burden a condition like this would produce. IDT acted fast and in just 1 day a successful Bingo fundraising event was hosted and the event was able to raise $840!

A New Knee for Newny

It’s not often you can secretly pull off something spectacular, but we did it! In late March we were informed of an injury one of our dear co-workers’ dogs had sustained. Newny, who is a Pit-Mix was playing at the dog park when she tore her ACL. Shortly after the injury Newny’s owner Kristen who has been with HSS since 2013 was told by a Vet that the only way to make her dog better would be for her to have TPLO (tibial-plateau-leveling osteotomy) surgery to repair her ACL. Of course, Kristen was distraught with emotion, but also worried about the financial aspect of it. This surgery costs $4,000 and needed to be done quickly to avoid the risk of tearing another ACL.

That same day we pulled together the HSS troops and set up a Go Fund Me account for Newny. In less than one week we were able to collect $3,720. Newny had surgery and is now on the road to recovery and Kristen can breathe a sigh of relief. This is just another example of how the people at HSS are more than co-workers, they’re family.

A Trip to Paradise

21 HealthCare Support employees let their hair down as they flew away on the company’s first incentive trip to The Bahamas on Thursday. Of the group there were 5 saleswoman and 5 recruiters who reached pre-determined metrics and qualified for the trip. From February 9th to the 12th everyone absorbed the luxury of the all exclusive resort including endless drinks, food and water-sports.

An additional treat came from HSS in the form of room credits which were given to each room. Some cashed in their credits at the spa and others opted for island adventures including speedboat tours, submarine adventures, off-shore fishing and much more.

Our next company incentive trip to Jamaica in 2018 will be here before we know it and our team is already working hard to be a part of it. It’s good to be part of the team! #TeamHSS

HSS Olympics

At the end of each quarter our employees are treated to a company event and sales meeting, with themes from Whirlyball to Family Feud. For third quarter the 31st Summer Olympic Games made picking our theme easy! From August 9th to the 18th we ran a two week contest titled “HSS Olympics” that consisted of sports themed metric and endurance contests. Prizes were presented up front so the stakes were high and the competition was on!

The most notable contest happened on Cycling Day when we focused on duration and endurance by measuring employee retention and perfecting our techniques. For fun we held a contest for the longest wall-sit and after 20+ seemingly exhausting minutes we were forced to call a 3-way tie when not even the shakes could get our competitive crew to throw in the towel. Each day followed suit with an interactive contest. At the end of the two weeks teams added up all of the medals they had earned and the three teams with the most medals were able to choose from Orlando City Soccer tickets, Aquatica Amusement Park tickets and dinner at a restaurant of their choosing.

Just following the HSS Olympics we held an Olympics themed Sales Meeting titled “Train Like an Athlete” and turned our focus to our Sales Team. Account Managers were broken up into five teams and named after the five winning countries from the Summer Olympics. Each team was given a scenario and had 1 hour to prepare for a client meeting where they presented their pitch to our Leadership Team who acted as clients. After each team presented open discussion and best practices ensued.

The following day the entire company met at a local campground for an all-fun, no-work Olympic party to end our quarter. Teams rotated among ten different games including basketball, tether-ball, wrecking ball and corn-hole. Employees enjoyed food and drinks on the company and winners were awarded with gift cards. The Olympic games may only happen once every four years, but there’s a chance the HSS Olympics will happen annually after how much fun we had!
