Healthcare Revenue Cycle Management Admin Assistant

A healthcare revenue cycle management brings together the business and health aspects of healthcare. An admin assistant who works in this field is responsible for tracking the health care of patients from the time they come into the office to the time that their final bill is paid. They enter a patient’s information into the computer and ensure that patients are aware of their regular appointment times through reminder calls and updating information in the scheduling software. They also maintain a record of the care that patients receive in the office.

Cycle Management Responsibilities

Once the patient has been transferred to the care of the physician, it becomes the responsibility of the revenue cycle management team to ensure that the insurance information is up-to-date with the insurance company. If a claim is denied, the admin assistant must find out why and often smooth the wrinkles out so that future payments go through.

Although the billing specialist often handles the coding to guarantee proper payment, the admin assistant must follow-through to collect the co-pay and notify patients when they have an outstanding balance.

The job of a Healthcare Revenue Cycle Management Admin Assistant requires a person who is personable and detail-oriented. Medical offices must maintain comprehensive medical files and track a patient’s travels through the office to the resolution of their ailment and beyond without losing sight of the reason patients come to the office, to begin with.

HSS Olympics

At the end of each quarter our employees are treated to a company event and sales meeting, with themes from Whirlyball to Family Feud. For third quarter the 31st Summer Olympic Games made picking our theme easy! From August 9th to the 18th we ran a two week contest titled “HSS Olympics” that consisted of sports themed metric and endurance contests. Prizes were presented up front so the stakes were high and the competition was on!

The most notable contest happened on Cycling Day when we focused on duration and endurance by measuring employee retention and perfecting our techniques. For fun we held a contest for the longest wall-sit and after 20+ seemingly exhausting minutes we were forced to call a 3-way tie when not even the shakes could get our competitive crew to throw in the towel. Each day followed suit with an interactive contest. At the end of the two weeks teams added up all of the medals they had earned and the three teams with the most medals were able to choose from Orlando City Soccer tickets, Aquatica Amusement Park tickets and dinner at a restaurant of their choosing.

Just following the HSS Olympics we held an Olympics themed Sales Meeting titled “Train Like an Athlete” and turned our focus to our Sales Team. Account Managers were broken up into five teams and named after the five winning countries from the Summer Olympics. Each team was given a scenario and had 1 hour to prepare for a client meeting where they presented their pitch to our Leadership Team who acted as clients. After each team presented open discussion and best practices ensued.

The following day the entire company met at a local campground for an all-fun, no-work Olympic party to end our quarter. Teams rotated among ten different games including basketball, tether-ball, wrecking ball and corn-hole. Employees enjoyed food and drinks on the company and winners were awarded with gift cards. The Olympic games may only happen once every four years, but there’s a chance the HSS Olympics will happen annually after how much fun we had!

How Will President-Elect Trump Change the ACA?

So, he did it. On November 9th, in the early hours of the morning, Donald Trump was elected to be the 45th president of the United States. Moving past this, we need to understand how this presidency will affect the US for the next four years. One of the hotly debated subjects is how the Trump Administration will effect Obamacare, or the Affordable Care Act. After all, Trump did promise that on the first day of his administration, he’d repeal and replace Obamacare. But what does all this actually mean for the state of healthcare in America?

The Changes

First of all, it is important to know how difficult of a task repealing all of Obamacare would be. It is so interwoven with our healthcare system, that it would be almost impossible to repeal all of it. Since most Republicans are of the same mindset when it comes to the Affordable Care Act, they would need to hold 60 seats in the Senate in order to vote it out, which they do not. However, since this election was such a huge win for Republicans, they could easily change specifically targeted laws within the ACA. Those specifics include:

  • Eliminating the subsidies that assist many recipients in paying for their Obamacare
  • Getting rid of a Medicaid expansion created for low-income Americans
  • Restricting the health care coverage of certain organizations like Planned Parenthood

The good news, however, is that these changes will not affect some of the most popular provisions of the ACA which include the requirement that health insurers cannot refuse coverage to those with pre-existing conditions, and allowing citizens under the age of 26 to stay on their parent’s health insurance.

What Does this Mean for You?

After meeting with Obama himself, Trump released a statement that he was reconsidering his stance on repealing the ACA altogether. Trump said he would be open to working with Obama on how he would change the specifics of the ACA.

This all meaning, no one is sure on how much Trump will change Obamacare, and what that will mean for the 20 million people using it and healthcare providers nationwide. All we can do is watch and wait in anticipation.

Hurricane Relief Fundraiser for Employee’s Family

In the beginning of October 2016, our headquarters in Florida as well as many surrounding islands prepared for the worst as Hurricane Matthew made its presence known. Florida received nothing worse than high winds and down trees and electricity, but the same could not be said for Haiti. Hurricane Matthew made landfall on Haiti with 145 mph winds and violent sea surges which left Haiti’s coastal cities in ruins and more than 60,000 displaced and 300 dead. The aftermath in Haiti hit home when we learned that one of our employee’s parents lived there. In the days following the hurricane, Team HSS created a relief fundraiser to gather donations. After 2 weeks we were able to mail a check for $1,500 to his family in Haiti. We’re told that this money will be put towards purchasing food and clean drinking water which are both high in demand and low in supply.
