Manager of Contracting

The manager of contracting is responsible for the oversight of contractual agreements, as they set the requirements, schedules, and steps for individual contract audits. This person is a highly experienced healthcare professional with strong negotiating and leadership skills. Furthermore, the manager of contracting must have extensive experience coordinating and analyzing contracts to create billing schedules, invoices, and other payment documents. Communicating with both payers and providers, a manager of contracting must ensure that contracts are accurate and appropriately detailed. 

Job Responsibilities

• Open, close, and renew healthcare contracts 
• Screen contracts for errors and adjust accordingly 
• Evaluate contracts with third parties 
• Manage contact strategy and planning  
• Coordinate and communicate with third parties 
• Prepare reports for department meetings and updates 

Qualifications and Skills 

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience 
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field 
• Master’s degree in a related field preferred
• 3–5 years of healthcare contracting experience  
• 4+ years of experience in the healthcare industry 
• Proficiency with word processing software
