Quality Improvement/Management Nurse

A quality improvement or management nurse’s primary job responsibility is to oversee and improve the day-to-day operations of a health care facility. The ultimate goal of this position is to help the health care facility in three ways: 1) by improving the quality of patient care, 2) by improving the overall patient experience, 3) by improving the efficiency and efficacy of the health care staff. This position involves both digging into the minute details and everyday practices of the health care industry while also designing and implementing practices to accomplish big picture health care goals.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform reviews of clinical care practices
  • Analyze data and reviews from customer feedback and health care facility records
  • Conduct risk assessments for current and future health care practices
  • Oversee different facility personnel as they administer care
  • Implement and promote new health care initiatives to improve quality of care
  • Work with various departments internally to develop facility-wide goals
  • Train staff in improved care protocols

Qualifications and Education

  • Registered Nursing License
  • BSN or degree in other healthcare field
  • 3+ years work in a clinical setting
  • Healthcare industry management experience preferred
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • The ability to communicate effectively with both executives and medical staff
  • The ability to juggle several different tasks at once
  • Analytic and problem-solving skills
